Demos and discussions: Managing configuration

We will demonstrate and discuss strategies for managing configuration in a Drupal 9 (or 8) project. Topics will include:

• The differences between configuration and content and cases where the distinction can be confusing
• Where configuration values are stored and how to view them, either through Drupal's UI or the command line
• Customizing the location of configuration files in a project
• Ignoring certain configuration (such as webforms) in a production environment
• Using different configuration in different environments
• Overriding configuration
• Triggering notifications, via email or Slack, when configuration changes in a production environment
• Installing a site from existing configuration
• The future of configuration management in Drupal
